A 4-day Patient Trainers Course for Safe Moving and Handling of People is a practical and engaging programme that gives attendees the knowledge, and training skills to deliver professional Safe Moving and Handling of People training within a Health and Social Care Environment in accordance with the latest guidance. 

 

Prerequisites

Attendees must have an up to date Manual and Patient Handling Certificate.

Attendees must work in a Health and Social Care Environment with access to Training Facilities at their organisation.

What will I Learn?

 

The comprehensive moving and handling train the trainer course cover the following:

 

  • An introduction to the key principles of moving and handling
  • An overview of why ergonomic moving and handling is important 
  • What the law says about moving and handling 
  • The actions that organisations should take to promote a safer workforce (organisational responsibilities)
  • Individual responsibilities with respect to moving and handling (individual responsibilities)
  • Why do we need to understand how our spine and back work
  • An awareness of the most common moving and handling injuries
  • How healthcare workers can promote healthy back care
  • Recommended ergonomic approaches to risk assessments TILEO
  • Other moving and handling risk factors
  • The principles of safer moving and handling of people 
  • Practical on a wide Range of Equipment
  • Theory Assessment
  • Attendees will be required to deliver a practical demonstration and presentation
  • This course is a level 4 which includes home study,in  preparation of risk assessment, practical presentation, and theory assessment.
