The comprehensive moving and handling train the trainer course covers the following:

 

  • An introduction to the key principles of moving and handling
  • An overview of why ergonomic moving and handling is important 
  • What the law says about moving and handling 
  • The actions that organisations should take to promote a safer workforce (organisational responsibilities)
  • Individual responsibilities with respect to moving and handling (individual responsibilities)
  • Why we need to understand how our spine and back work
  • An awareness of the most common moving and handling injuries
  • How healthcare workers can promote healthy back care
  • Recommended ergonomic approaches to risk assessments TILEE
  • Other moving and handling risk factors
  • The principles of safer moving and handling of people 
  • Practical on a wide Range of Equipment
  • Theory Assessment
  • Attendees will be required to deliver a practical demonstration and presentation

 

Prerequisites

  • Candidates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English
  • Candidates must be fit and able to carry out basic people handling techniques
  • A background in care or training is preferred but not essential .
  • Assessment is by written exam followed by a practical assessment on the last day.
  • Attendees should be confident in Moving and Handling of People and ideally a minimum of 5 years experience.
