What is the Main Aim of the Course?

To provide course members with sufficient knowledge and practical skills to enable them to undertake handling tasks in a safe manner without causing harm to the service user.

 

What Will I Learn?

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • Explain the legislation in relation to manual and patient handling
  • Describe the structure of the human spine
  • Explain the functions of the spine
  • Demonstrate correct posture when undertaking a manual handling task
  • Assessing a task before the use of hoist and sling, a stand aid, a turn table and a slide sheet
  • Perform a manual handling task using a hoist and sling, a stand aid, a turn table and a slide sheet

 

Delivery Method

Attendees will complete a theory session followed by in depth practical tuition.
